Shirley Ann Bigham

Born on January 18,1950 in Corsicana, Texas, Shirley was the daughter of Thomas Derwood “T.D.” Watkins and Toy Lillian Cline Watkins.

Shirley went to school in Madisonville Texas. She worked for many years as a property manager in the DFW area. On New Year’s Eve 1982 she met the love of her life Chester “Sonny” Bigham and they wed in August 1983. After she married Sonny she enjoyed being a home maker. They made their home in Tool, Texas, and raised multiple “fur babies” together throughout the years. They loved sitting on the porch watching the moon rise over the lake, star gazing and the random visitations they had from raccoons, laughing and visiting with family & friends, going dancing, and playing the guitar and singing. She loved going to church, attending church singings and making her daily visits to Whataburger and McClains Café where she was very popular. She enjoyed shopping and was always impeccably dressed and could make anything pretty. It was said that Sonny was the builder and Shirley was the painter. Her grandkids remember her as always having a Whataburger cup with her everywhere she went and that you could guarantee that she would be giving a nature blanket of some sort for Chinese Christmas exchange.

Shirley is survived by her son Scott Sanders and his fiancé, Julie Moore, of Chatfield, Texas; grandsons Brandon Sanders and wife, Ashley, of Carthage, Texas, Kaleb Sanders and wife, Jennifer, of Palmer, Texas, and Stoney Sanders and wife, Glenna, of Midwest City, Oklahoma; great-grandchildren: Ava, Madi, and Jax of Carthage, Texas, and Reagan and Wyatt of Palmer, Texas; mother-in-law Glenna Bigham of Waxahachie, Texas; and sister-in-law Ginger Fairholm and husband, Richard, of Waxahachie, Texas.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, January 30, 2026, at 2 p.m. at Eubank Cedar Creek Funeral Home in Mabank, Texas. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow the service at the Old Chatfield Cemetery in Chatfield, Texas.

Pallbearers are Brandon Sanders, Kaleb Sanders, Stoney Sanders, Mike Kirby, Richard Fairholm, and Donnie Boutte, Jr.
