

Shirley Fae McDaniel, 88, passed away peacefully at her home in Tool, Texas, on May 15, 2026, surrounded by her family. She was born on August 2, 1937, in Selmer, Tennessee, to Lonnie Roscoe Borden and Mary Lucille King Borden.
Shirley lived a life centered on faith, family, and hard work. A devoted Christian, she dedicated her life to Jesus at an early age and carried her faith with grace and strength throughout her life. She worked for many years as a cosmetologist, caring for others not only through her profession but also through her kind spirit and welcoming heart.
Over the years, Shirley made many cherished memories traveling, gardening, and working in the yard alongside William “Elick” Baxter. She also enjoyed skeet and trap shooting and especially treasured the time she spent with family and friends. Her warmth, laughter, and loving presence will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Doyle Glenn Goodrum; her brothers, John Robert Borden and Billy Borden; and her sister, Donnie Borden.
She is survived by her daughter, Sheila Marie Hurley of Ridgedale, MO, and her son, Thomas E. McDaniel and wife Misty of Tool, TX; Her Sister, Dale Borden Kelly; her grandchildren: Larry Dean Hurley and wife Amanda, Jimmie Doylene Walser, Ethan McDaniel, Chloe McDaniel, Lexie Fillmore, and Tyler Fillmore; and her great-grandchildren: Paige Hurley, Abigail Walser, Molly Walser, Dean Hurley, and Gryphon Walser.
Shirley was married during her life to Doyle Goodrum, Thomas Edmon “Mac” McDaniel, and William “Elick” Baxter, each of whom shared important chapters of her journey.
From her beginnings in Selmer, Tennessee, to her years in El Paso and later Tool, Texas, Shirley built a life filled with resilience, faith, and love for those around her. Her family finds comfort knowing she is now at peace in the presence of her Savior.
She will be forever loved, remembered, and missed.
