Stanley Craig Bethel

Celebration of life graveside services for Stanley Craig Bethel, 79, of Gun Barrel City, Texas will be held at 2:00 pm Tuesday, March 12, 2024, at Payne Springs Cemetery in Payne Springs, Texas with Bro. Steve Glosup officiating.

Stanley was born on July 8, 1944, in Dallas, Texas to Chester and Maggie Maydel (Dyer) Bethel. He grew up in Irving, Texas and graduated from Irving High School. He met the love of his life in Janet Claudine Felty who he married on January 17, 1965, and together they shared 59 wonderful years together. Stanley enjoyed golfing and he loved to fish. He also had a passion for woodworking, sculpting and carving that led to his career. Shortly after their marriage he and Janet would purchase houses and spend time together renovating them before flipping them and moving on to the next project. Stanley also believed in always having a pile of dirt in the yard for filling in holes and landscaping that provided many hours of fun for the kids to play on.

Stanley is preceded in death by his parents, Chester and Maggie Bethel; brother, Ronnie Bethel; and sister, Gwendolyn Smith.

He is survived by his cherished wife, Janet Bethel; daughter, Julie Bethel; grandchildren: Jason, Jacob and wife, Sharee; great grandchildren: James and Easton; nephew, Michael; and many friends.
