Adell Pettenger

Adell Pettenger, 72, of Belvidere left this world to be with our Father, the Lord, on Sunday, October 20, 2013 after a lengthy illness. Born, October 4, 1941 in Candler, North Carolina to James and Nancy (Rice) Reece. Adell always stayed true to her southern roots. She enjoyed visiting her native North Carolina whenever she could. She loved country and bluegrass music, playing cards, bowling, watching her western stories and horror movies. She always had a mischievous sense of humor that would show through her small giggles, and sideways grin. She will be truly missed.

Survivors include, daughters, Katrina (Peter) Rhodes, and Nancy Minor; grandchildren, Holly (Zachary) Minor, Peter (Maria) Rhodes Jr., Haley Rhodes, and Heather Rhodes; great-grandchildren, Alexander Rhodes, Mason and Matthew DeMaro; sister, Judy (Phil) Roccaforte, and several nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents; infant son, Val Craig Minor; brothers, Gary, Herschel, Oliver, and Hoy Reece; sister-in-laws, Loraine Reece, and Faye Reece.

Funeral service 2 p.m. Saturday, October 26, 2013 at Sunset Funeral Home, 8800 N. Alpine Rd, Machesney Park. Pastor Ron Meyer officiating. Visitation 1 p.m. till the time of service. Interment in Sunset Memorial Gardens. Online condolences may be submitted at www.sunsetfhmemgardens.com
