Betty Mae Carlson, 74, of Machesney Park, IL, passed away peacefully, Sunday January 31, 2021. She was born June 10, 1946 in Freeport, IL, the daughter of Elvin and Mabel (Smith) Graham. Betty was employed at North Park Liquors for 25 years and went on to work at Bekins/Springfield Van and Storage for 24 years. Betty married Robert Johnson on September 30, 1998. She was a member of the Top O/State snowmobile club. Betty enjoyed watching Nascar, bowling and watching all sports. She was an avid Chicago Bears fan. Betty was the number one cheerleader for her grandchildren at all of their sporting events. She was always in the stands cheering them on.
Betty is loved and missed by her children, Cari (Kelly) Johnson and Todd Carlson; grandchildren, Sam (Cortney Fittanto) Lenz and Cory (Katie) Lenz; great-granddaughter, Lennox, and twin great-grandchildren on the way; sister, Ruth (Jerry) Armstrong; brother, Jim (Vicki) Graham; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband, Robert.
A walk through visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m., Friday, February 5, 2021 at Sunset Funeral Home, 8800 N. Alpine Rd, Machensey Park, IL 61115, with a funeral service to follow at 10:00 a.m. The funeral service will be livestreamed at www.facebook.com/SunsetFuneralHome/IL. Burial in Sunset Memorial Gardens. Memorials may be made to the family.
