Bonnie Lee Minick, 94, of Rockford, passed away on Thursday, July 30, 2020. Born October 30, 1925 in Naylor, MO. Daughter of Frank Cleveland and Anna Henry (Ivy) Gryder. United in marriage to Gale B. Minick on December 14, 1946 in Evangelical Free Church in Rockford. He predeceased Bonnie in March of 2005. During her lifetime, she worked for Wood & Brooks Piano Factory, catering at Chiles and as a Lunch Lady at Rock River Grade School until she decided to retire when her granddaughters were born. She was always a homemaker at heart and loved to take care of her granddaughters while their mother worked. She created a safe haven with her home and made everyone feel welcome.
Bonnie was a lifelong member of Forest City Baptist Church. She was also a member of the Rockford Lithuanian Club and the SMSF Club. She was a past member of the Eastern Star. Bonnie was an avid league bowler for 30 plus years even traveled for State Championships. Bonnie loved hosting for the Holidays, arranging flowers, making cookies especially her special thumbprint cookies, going for travels, and shopping. Together with Gale, they enjoyed yearly trips to Las Vegas and after he passed away she continued to go with Danny and Michelle.
Survived by her children, Danny (Michelle) Minick, Debra (Adam) Birner; granddaughters, Kari Birner, Anna (Kody) Nicholson; siblings, Marvin Gryder of Lakeland, FL and Carole (Tom) Szenay of Palm Habor, FL; sister-in-law, Patricia Gryder and Sandra Gryder; numerous nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her parents; spouse, Gale; siblings, Eva Page, Cassie Feichter-Szczech, Ona Mae Webb-Anglun, Melvin Gryder, and James Gryder.
Celebration of Life Funeral Service at 2 p.m. on Monday, August 10 at Sunset Funeral Home, 8800 N. Alpine Rd, Machesney Park. Visitation at 1 p.m. until time of service.
