Calvin Collins, 84, of Rockford passed away December 24, 2010 at River Bluff Nursing Home. Born January 7, 1926 in Walnut Ridge AR, the son of Joseph and Lillie (Hogan) Collins. He was employed by Colonial Bakery for 37 years and was a member of North Park Church of Christ. Calvin married Margaret Gibbs on July 22, 1945. She preceded him in death February 6, 1998. Survivors include his son, David C. (Pam) Collins of Milton, WI, daughter, Janie M. Oliver of Machesney Park, grandchildren, Mike J. Oliver, Bailee Margaret Collins, brother-in-law, James Nelson (Jan) Gibbs, and sister –in-laws, Ina Gibbs and Mae Goad. Predeceased by his parents, and siblings, Cliff, John D, Basil, Joe Jr., Max, Naomi Jenkins. Funeral Services will be10:00 am Thursday, December 30, 2010 at Sunset Funeral Home, 8800 N. Alpine Road, Machesney Park, IL 61115. Visitation will be from 5-7 pm Wednesday, December 29, 2010 at the funeral home. Burial will be private.
