

Carl Edward Turman, 87, of Rockford, passed away Wednesday, February 24, 2016. Born March 18, 1928 in Wilsons Rock, OK. Son of Andrew Franklin and Lorena (Anderson) Turman. Married Norma Carol Rafferty on December 23, 1950 in Fort Smith, AR. Veteran of the United States Army. He retired from National Lock after more than 30 years. He enjoyed fishing and hunting in his younger years. He was very devoted to his family and also to helping others with whatever they may have needed. He was a member of the Pelly Road Christian Fellowship Church and a member of the National Horseshoe Association having won several trophies across the Midwest. He showcased his carpentry skills by building 12 homes moving his family into the new ones as they were completed.
Survivors include children, Cheryl, Gary, Dale, Gayle (Mike) Winterland; grandchildren, Roxanne, Barry, Andrew, Brittany, Drake, Brett, Nickolas, Nathan; great-grandchildren, Adrianna, Desmon, Tre, Aaliyah; sister, Inez Bridgewater. Predeceased by parents; brother, Virgil; half-brothers, Clayborne and Spy; sister, Ruby.
