Delphine “Mickey” Neeley, 85, passed away September 27, 2022. She was born on March 20, 1937 to Donna and Leonard Johnson. Mickey was a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Her grandchildren lovingly called her “Memaw.” She loved oldies country music and would shrug her shoulders to the beat. She loved dancing with her family. Mickey married the love of her life, Donald, on August 23, 1954. Together they shared two children. She worked for Warner Lambers until her retirement. She enjoyed cooking, and pairing her favorite dishes with cornbread, beans, and fried potatoes. Mickey would try her luck at the casinos, and often left a winner. Mickey loved to sit on the porch with a good book. She will be missed by many.
She leaves to cherish her memory, her children; Debra (Timothy) McLain and Cheryl Kawell, grandchildren; Tashia Adams, Tabitha Adams, Donald McLain, Timmy McLain, Levi McLain, Casey Kawell, and Natalie Kawell, great grandchildren; Mason, Melia, Zoe, Harley, Chase, Levi, and Isabell.
She is welcomed into heaven by her husband; Donald Neeley, parents; Donna and Leonard Johnson, siblings; Carl Johnson, Geraldine McHenrey, JB Johnson, and Johnny Johnson, and son-in-law; Bradley Kawell.
A funeral for Mickey is scheduled for Thursday, October 6, 2022 at 10a.m. at Sunset Funeral Home. Located at 8800 N. Alpine Rd. Machesney Park IL 61115. A Visitation will take place at 9a.m. until the time of service. Burial in Sunset Memorial Gardens.
