Eldon A Appelgren

30 September, 192516 May, 2020

Eldon Addison Appelgren, age 94, passed away on May 16, 2020 with his loving wife of 68 years by his side. He is survived by his wife Katherine; sons Dave (Renee), Dan (Maggie), and John (Tracy); grandchildren Matthew, Grant, Clark, Miles, Yumi, and Izzy; and great grandchild Melody.

With great enthusiasm for life, Al was born in Belvidere, IL (relocated to Rockford, IL in his youth) as an only child to Ruth Ina and Frank Elmer Appelgren. A proud veteran of the United States Marines, he found success in business upon his return from WWII and met the love of his life marrying Katherine (Bufalo) raising our family with love, Christian morals, and opportunities to grow. Al’s presence always brought a smile to those around him, and he would certainly wish we continue to love, support, and cherish our continued relationships.

Private service and entombment is planned and a celebration of life will be arranged as social gatherings become safe. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to: Semper Fi & America's Fund (www.charitynavigator.org) serving those who preserve our freedom.

Special thanks to Heartland Hospice and our father’s NP Kiwi for their extraordinary care and support.
