

Frank Edward Hovar, Sr. age 88, of Roscoe, died Saturday, January 17, 2015 at his home, surrounded by his family. Frank was born January 3, 1927, the son of Anton Hovar, Sr. and Myrtle (Sanderson) Hovar, in Hanover. He attended Edgerton Elementary School and Hanover High School. Frank married Kathleen A. Henschel, of Hanover on May 14, 1947 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church.
After working 41 years at Rockford Blacktop, Frank retired in 1989. He was a devout member of St. Bridget Catholic Church for 59 years.
Frank was veteran of the U.S. Navy. He served his country during WWII. He was a life-time member of VFW Post 5300, Hanover
Frank was preceded in death by Kathleen, his wife of 62 Years.
He is survived by his six children, Nancy (Terrence) Warner of Fort Wayne, Indiana, Linda (Rupert) Searcy of Elgin, Frank E. (Kathy) Hovar, Jr., of Machesney Park, Becky (Jim) Jackson of Pecatonica, Julie (James) Stacy, Jr., of Silver City, New Mexico, and Michael (Marta) Hovar, of McAllen, Texas; fifteen grandchildren; and twenty-one great grandchildren.
Funeral Mass 10 a.m. Thursday, January 22, 2015 at St. Bridget Church, 600 Clifford Avenue., Loves Park. Visitation from 4-7:30 pm with rosary at 7 pm on Wednesday, January 21, 2015 at Sunset Funeral Home, 8800 N. Alpine Road. and 1 hour prior to Mass at the church. Interment in Sunset Memorial Gardens.
