George D. Morrison

George D. Morrison, 68, of Machesney Park, passed away after a short illness on Thursday June 23, 2016. Born November 5, 1947 in Rockford, IL. Son of Raymond and Geraldine (McKinney) Morrison. George is one of 13 children. Veteran of the United States Army having served in Vietnam. Enlisted in the army in November 1964 and was Honorably discharged in November 1967. He was awarded the Bronze Service Star and the VCM SPS Rifle Bdg. Married Brenda C. Young on May 4, 1968. She predeceased him on June 28, 1992.

He enjoyed fishing and working on everyone's cars up until his retirement. After retirement he loved living on the lake and having his grandkids visit. Having Burgers and Beers were a favorite pastime.

Survivors include Daughters, Michelle (Doug) Nelson and Cynthia (Paul) Knutson; Grandchildren, Kacy, Reid, Devin Nelson and Cole, Alicia and Jack Knutson; Sister, Mary Houghton; Brothers, Bob Morrison, Mike Morrison and Jim Morrison; several Nieces and Nephews. A Special Thanks to the two Ladies in his life, Miss Rose and Auntie Darla. Predeceased by parents; spouse, Brenda; siblings, Jeanette "Chubby" Morrison, William "Sparky" Morrison, Lorraine Trojello, Jane Brown, Gerald Morrison, Esther Artz, Richard "Dick" Morrison and Joseph "Joe" Morrison.

Memorial Service at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, July 6 at Sunset Funeral Home, 8800 North Alpine Rd, Machesney Park. Visitation at 1 p.m. until time of service. Burial in Sunset Memorial Gardens following full Military Honors. In Lieu of Flowers Memorials can be made to the Family.
