Gordon R. Holmblad, 58, of Machesney Park, passed away on December 8. Born in Rockford on February 20, 1954, he was the son of Henry and Elizabeth (Doner) Holmblad. He married Cathie on August 31, 1973 in Rockford.
A retired veteran of the United States Air Force and an employee of Forest City Gear, Gordon enjoyed fishing and NASCAR Racing. His greatest pass-time was spending time with his grandsons, Trenton and Nathaniel.
He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Cathie Holmblad; his daughter, Angela (Scott) Nelson; grandsons, Trenton and Nathaniel Nelson; sisters, Carol (Larry) Myers, and Vickie (Donnie) Jamerson, and many relatives and friends.
He was predeceased by his parents, Henry and Elizabeth Holmblad.
Funeral service at 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 13, at Sunset Funeral Home, 8800 N. Alpine Road, Machesney Park, with visitation 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home; Pastor Wendell Maynard will officiate. Interment will take place in Sunset Memorial Gardens.
