

James was born on August 30, 1942 in Lake Geneva, WI, the son of Harold and Patricia (Heagney) Hammond. He was raised in Rockford and attended West High School and served in the US Navy for 4 years. James married Shirley Bolding in 1979 in Loves Park.
He was a Projectionist for 30 years at Kerasotes Theater; He retired from Walgreens after 20 years. He loved his pup Sophie aka (garbage dog), the Packers, fishing and gardening. He loved spending time with all of his grandchildren, children and the love of his life Shirley; she was above all the greatest joy of his life.
James is survived by his wife Shirley; daughter Linda Outcult (Tim); son David Bolding; daughter Lorrie Moore (Mike); son Nick Hammond (Holly) and daughter Tiffney Hammond; sisters Leah Rutherford (Richard), Barbara Cunningham (Kenneth), Debra Reed (Roger) and Geri Lindsay (Gerald); brothers Steve Hammond (Karen) and Mike Hammond; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
James was predeceased by his father Harold; mother Patricia, sons James Hammond and Richard Bolding; grandson Brandon Whitmire; daughter-in-law Diana Bolding and sister Kay Cummings.

A service to celebrate James life will be 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday January 14, 2015 at Sunset Funeral Home 8800 N. Alpine Road in Machesney Park. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home. Condolences may be sent to www.sunsetfhmemgardens.com
