Joseph George LaMarca, age 95, of Rockford, Illinois passed away on Friday, January 27, 2023. Joseph was born in Independence, LA on September 5, 1927. He moved to Rockford at age 8 and graduated from West High School and served in the U.S. Army. Joseph and his wife, Doris spent 72 beautiful years of marriage together. Joseph began barbering in 1948. He was one of Rockford's oldest practicing barbers, owning Joe's Barber Shop in the 11th Street Plaza. He enjoyed his latter years in semi-retirement working at the East Gate Barber Shop. In his younger days, he played the trumpet in a band with his vocalist wife for many years, at countless weddings and business parties. He was truly a kind and gentle man, loved by many. He lived out his faith in Jesus Christ by simply following God's Commandments. His outlook on people and life was "find the good, and praise it". His family was his greatest love and priority, He is greatly loved and will be missed.
He is survived by his wife, Doris LaMarca; sons, Henry (Connie) LaMarca and George LaMarca; grandson Joe (Maria) LaMarca; granddaughter, Julia LaMarca; sister, Mamie Perrino; numerous nieces and nephews.
