Lela M. Lameyer, 89, of Rockford, IL, departed this earthly life to be with our loving Lord, surrounded by her loving family after a short illness. She was born in Wayne City, IL on December 17, 1932 to Cecil and Ruth (Butler) Hendershott. Lela graduated from West High School in 1951. She married the love of her life, George Lameyer, on February 2, 1952 at Grace United Methodist Church in Rockford, IL and together they raised 3 wonderful children. Lela worked for many years at Warner Lambert. She was a Girl Scout leader and was also very active in many of her children’s school activities, including the Windsor Grade School and Marshall Middle School PTAs. Lela was a member of the Red Hat Society. She was an excellent cook and her grandchildren loved learning from her on how to bake. Lela loved crafts and anything to do with gardening. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. Lela will be greatly missed by all that knew and loved her.
Lela is survived by her daughter, Judy (Steve) Webster; her grandchildren, Melissa (Jason) Larsen, Tim (Ashley) Lameyer, Matt (Katie) Webster, Kristin (Matt) Seidel, Janel (Joshua) Voyles, Kelsey (Justin) Leng, Lauren Lameyer, Mallory Lameyer; her great-grandchildren, Toby, Kiera, Jason Jr., Braylee, Charlie, Wesley, Elsie, Stanley, Owen, Paxton, Abel, Ellie, Anneliese, Locklin, Korbin, and Atreyu; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, George; her sons, Mike Lameyer and Gary Lameyer; her parents, Cecil and Ruth; her sister, Mildred Nichols; and her brothers, Albert (Connie) Hendershott and Paul Hendershott.
Funeral Service for Lela will take place at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 5, 2022 at Sunset Funeral Home, 8800 N. Alpine Rd., Machesney Park, IL 61115. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service. Burial to follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the family to establish a memorial at a later date.
