

Leonard W. Anderson, 88, of Roscoe, Illinois passed away November 20, 2020. He was born in Brooklyn, New York to Edward and Ellen Anderson on May 11, 1932. Leonard dedicated much of his life to the service of others. He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps and served honorably in the Korean War. He held Marine Corps colors at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier and spent time guarding the president of the United States. Leonard was the first charter member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post 9587 in Staten Island, New York. He went on to continue his service by joining the New York City Police Department, where he eventually became a Sargent.
Leonard valued knowledge and education. He attended St. Petersburg College, where he earned two Associate’s degrees, and earned a Bachelor’s Degree in business from the University of South Florida. Additionally, he earned a Real Estate License. Leonard was dedicated in his work, as well as his faith. He was a 33rd degree Mason at the Tompkins Lodge in Staten Island, New York. Leonard moved his family to Florida in January of 1973. There, he became a member of the Egypt Temple Shrine in Tampa, Florida. Above all else, Leonard loved his family. He was a loving husband to Felice (Montemarano) and together they shared 4 children. He was a dedicated husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather and will be missed by many. He is survived by his loving wife, Felice Anderson; their children, Leonard Anderson Jr., Robert Anderson and his wife Suzann, Dr. Susan Anderson-Granzeier and her husband Dr. Greg Granzeier; along with 9 grandchildren and 7 Great grandchildren. He is predeceased by his son Richard, his grandson Landon, as well as his parents and siblings.
