LeRoy H. Henderson

LeRoy Henderson, 89, of Loves Park, Illinois, passed away peacefully at home on April 2, 2026. LeRoy was born on January 2, 1937, to Horace and Mary Henderson, in Shell Lake, Wisconsin. On February 5, 1955, LeRoy married the love of his life, Helen (McKeever), who preceded him in death in 2022. LeRoy was a devoted employee of Barber Coleman for 35 years prior to retirement. He instilled a tough, resilient work ethic into his children from a young age. LeRoy was known to be able to fix anything and everything, usually using his creative nature to overcome unforeseen challenges.

Being born in Wisconsin, LeRoy was naturally drawn to bringing his children to Shell Lake and showing them his roots. The end of the week usually consisted of packing up on a Friday and heading North for a long weekend of making memories at the cabin. It would come to no surprise he also was an avid fan of the Green Bay Packers and faithfully cheered them on throughout his entire life.

LeRoy is survived by his sons, Scot Henderson and Alan Henderson; granddaughter, Audra (Ben) Wellen; great-grandchildren, Carter Wellen, Cooper Wellen, and Cole Wellen.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen; daughter, Kathy Carlson; parents, Horace and Mary; seven siblings.
