

Mary C. Chiarelli, age 87, of Rockford, Illinois passed away on Wednesday, June 18, 2025. She was born October 4, 1937 in Palermo, Sicily to Antonio and Antonia (nee Saladino) Palmeri. She married the love of her life, Vince Chiarelli on June 29, 1957 at St Anthony Church of Padua in Rockford, Illinois. She was a member of the Altar and Rosary Society and the Sicilian Club. She and her husband owned and operated Vince the Tailor, where she worked as a seamstress for many years.
Mary loved her social life, she loved going to lunch with her friends. She enjoyed shopping, playing BINGO, and gardening flowers. She was strong in her faith, every morning she would pray the rosary. Mary loved her family, especially her grandchildren, who she would give the world.
She is survived by her children, Phyllis (Gerald) Sarauer, Nina (John) Parlapiano, Joe (Connie) Chiarelli, and Tony (Anna) Chiarelli; grandchildren, Emily, Eric, Danielle, (Andrew), Jacob, Vince (Shayna), Claudia, Mia, and Massimo; great-grandchildren, Maria, Nicolas, Joseph, Giuliana, Luca, and Ezra; siblings, Joe Palmeri and Emmanuel Palmeri; sister-in-law, Marie (Nate) Broughton; brother-in-law, Sam (Mary Ellen) Chiarelli; along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends of many years.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Vince Chiarelli; parents, Antonio and Antonia Palmeri; parents-in-law, Joe and Filippa Chiarelli; sisters-in-law, and brother-in-law.
A visitation for Mary will be held on Monday, June 23 from 9:00 am to 11:00 am at St Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, 1010 Ferguson St, Rockford, IL 61102 with a service to follow at 11:00 am. Entombment to follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
