

Mary Francis Stassi, 97, of Rockford, went to be with the Lord on March 5, 2022. She was born on July 4, 1924, in Rockford, to Carl and Antonia “Lena” Cacciatore. Mary graduated from Muldoon high school and continued her education at the St. Louis Conservatory of Music. She was a music teacher at St. Anthony’s School and practiced private vocal coaching and piano lessons. Her love and passion for music touched the lives of her family, as well as numerous students and loved ones. She married the love of her life, Peter Stassi, and together they shared two daughters. Mary and Peter were long time members of the Mendelssohn club of Rockford. She was a dedicated wife, mother, sister, aunt and friend. Her family enjoyed her home-made Italian food and the love she had for her heritage. Mary was a member of Holy family Catholic Church and had a strong faith in the Lord. She will be missed by many.
She leaves to cherish her memory her daughters; Joanlee Stassi, and Anita (Jim) Stassi- Lunn and her brother; Carl (Mary) Cacciatore, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and great nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly.
She is welcomed into heaven by her husband; Peter J. Stassi, parents; Carl and Antonia “Lena” Cacciatore and brothers; Steve (Marcella) Cacciatore and Joseph (Mary) Cacciatore.
In lieu of flowers donations in memory of Mary may be made to Mayo Clinic heart and cancer research or the Poor Clares Monastery of Rockford.
A funeral Mass for Mary will take place Friday, March 11 at 12pm at Holy Family Church. Located at 4401 Highcrest Rd, Rockford, IL 61107. A Visitation will take place at 11:30am until the time of service. Interment to follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
