Nancy A. Reed, 77 died on Tuesday, December 11, 2018. Born April 17, 1941, in Rockford Il, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Leo and Irene (Bolzak) Pastuska. She looked back most fondly on her years attending Morris Kennedy School. She also attended East and Jefferson High Schools. She married Michael A. Reed April 3, 1965.
She loved being around children in her work. She was a school bus driver for Rockford Public School District 205 and then for Rockton Bus Company when she moved from Rockford to Roscoe, IL. Over the years she also worked in the school cafeteria at East and Jefferson High Schools, Stone Creek School in Roscoe and Dakota Elementary School in Dakota.
Nancy and Mike retired in 1996 and traveled in their RV. Her favorite winter destination was Casa Grande, Arizona, where she enjoyed new adventures and meeting new friends. She was an avid Nascar and Chicago Bears fan.
Survivors include sons Charles (Debbie) Carter, Michael (Lori) Reed, daughters Marie (Steve) Strombeck, Audrey (Terry) Thomas, grandchildren Stephen Strombeck, Owen (Sheri) Strombeck, Kimberly Carter, Samantha Thomas, Valerie Thomas, David Carter and three brothers and two sisters.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband Charles Carter in 1961 and husband Michael Reed in 2007.
Funeral ceremonies will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 18, 2018, at Sunset Funeral Home, 8800 North Alpine Road Machesney Park, IL, with Pastor Philip Allen of Daystar Christian Fellowship officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 5:00-7:00 p.m. on Monday, December 17, 2018.
