

Peggy M. Halberstadt passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, March 17, 2021. Born on June 21, 1940 in Oxly, Missouri to Velva and Edley Pond. Peggy was deeply caring in all that she did. She served the Rockford community as a benefits administrator to local trade unions. She supported her children and grandchildren in sporting events, education, and extracurricular activities. Her pride and joy was caring for her family. On September 12, 1959, she married Harry Halberstadt, Jr. During their 61 year union, they shared 3 children together, 5 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. Peggy was an avid reader, and enjoyed traveling with family and friends. She was active in serving her church at Evans United Methodist Church for many years. Peggy loved her family more than anything else. She will be missed by all the lives she touched.
Survived by her children: Douglas (Lisa), Tera Wenner, Darrin (Amy). Grandchildren: Hana (Matthew) Bridge, Cierra Neubauer, Abigail (Tim) Krebs, Lukas (Julia) Wenner, Meredith Halberstadt; great-grandchildren, Masen Neubauer, Andromeda Halberstadt, Corrine Krebs, Wynn Bridge. She is also survived by her brothers: Charles (JoAn) Pond, Carlos Pond, Lyndle (Joyce) Pond, Gerald (Karen) Pond, James (Valerie) Pond, as well as several nieces and nephews.
She is predeceased by her husband, Harry B. Halberstadt, Jr. Her parents: Velva and Edley Pond, as well as her siblings: Clydia (Andy) McKenna, Caralee (Gordon) Nicholas, and Bobby (Kathy) Pond.
A funeral service is scheduled for Sunday, March 28, at 1pm at Sunset Funeral Home, 8800 N. Alpine Rd. Machesney Park, IL, 61115. A walk through visitation will be held at 11:30am until the time of service.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the family.
