Phoebe Ann Pratt, 95, of Rockford, Illinois, and formerly of West Hills, California, passed away peacefully on Monday, June 2, 2025. Phoebe was born to Harris and Rose Schmerse in Monroe, Wisconsin on April 27, 1930. In 1948, Phoebe married the love of her life, Jarold Pratt. Together they shared a lifetime of memories including camping and square-dancing until his passing in 2003. Phoebe enjoyed crafting and playing dominoes with friends. She remained very social throughout her life. In California, Phoebe cared for three large turtles. She enjoyed the company they gave her over the years. Above all else, she loved her family dearly.
Phoebe can best be described as a feisty woman who spoke her mind. She seemed to always have a “one-liner” that would bring a long-lasting smile to your face. She will be truly missed by those around her.
Phoebe is survived by many nieces and nephews; brother, Herman Schmerse, and sister-in-law, Frieda Triplett.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jarold; parents, Harris and Rose; siblings, Frank Schmerse and Howard Schmerse.
