Reynold W. Lighthart

Reynold W. Lighthart, Sr., 88, of Rockford, IL, passed away peacefully, Sunday morning April 4, 2021 in his home. He was born May 16, 1932 in Rockford, IL, the son of Leon and Sarah (Booth) Lighthart. Reynold was proud to serve in the United States Army in Korea from 1953-1955. He married Janet Y. Voy on October 29, 1955. He was a truck driver for 29 years before retiring in 1985. Reynold was a member of the Teamsters, local 325 and of the American Legion. In his spare time, Reynold enjoyed watching NASCAR. He was a family man that will be missed by all.

Reynold is survived by his children, Reynold (Georgia) Lighthart, Jr., Robert Lighthart, Dianna Lighthart, Sandy Kellaney, Willie (Lori) Lighthart, Reynold Lighthart III and Brendon Lighthart; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Janet, daughter, Dawn, grandson Isaiah Lighthart, 2 great-great-grandchildren, 5 brothers and one sister.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, April 10, 2021 at Sunset Funeral Home, 8800 N. Alpine Rd, Machesney Park, IL 61115 with a visitation to be held from 1:00 p.m., until the time of service. Burial in Sunset Memorial Gardens.
