Rita M. Love, 91, of Rockford, IL passed away on Sunday, March 27, 2022. She was born on April 13, 1930 in Pontiac, MI to James and Leona (McClusky) McDermott.

Rita graduated from Harrisburg Township High School in 1947. She worked as a secretary for GM Motors, Pontiac Motors Division and Carlson Capital. Rita married Dennis Odell Love in 1954. She was a long-time member of Central Christian Church in Rockford, IL.

Rita is survived by her son Kevin (Brenda) Love; step-daughter, Carol Schwanke; grandchildren, Erica, Erin, Mike, Brian, Chris, Tonya, Betsy, Richie and Sara; great-grandchildren, Kaylyn, Noah, Aidan, Kaleigh, Carlos, Diego and Thalia; niece Debra (Dave) McClellan; grand-niece, Katie Hamre and several special friends. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband Dennis in 1999; infant daughter, Nancy Lynn Love; sister and brother-in-law, Doris and Henry Melton and brother and sister-in-law, Dale and Mildred Love.

A funeral service for Rita is scheduled for 10:00 a.m. on Friday, April 1, 2022 at Sunset Funeral Home, 8800 N. Alpine Rd. Machesney Park IL 61115 with visitation from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service. Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens.
