

Robert "Bob" C. Bryden, age 86, of Rockford, Illinois passed away on Monday, July 21, 2025. He was born December 7, 1938 in Rockford, IL, the son of Charles and Wilda (Gorrell) Bryden. Bob graduated from West High School. He married the love of his life, Sandra Snyder, on June 14, 1959. In high school, he was a caddy at the Rockford Country Club and was in ROTC. Bob was a Deacon and taught Sunday School at Third Presbyterian Church. Bob was employed at 17 at the American Chicle Company and later in life became an Assistant Vice President at Alpine Bank. He served as a trustee at the Blackhawk Fire Department and the International Management Council. He and Sandra were proud members of the Scramblin Squares dance association and the Hononegah Chapter of National Campers and Hikers Association. Bob loved playing golf, playing horseshoes, watching the Green Bay Packers and the Chicago Cubs. He was loved by everyone he came in contact with. Bob knew someone everywhere he went. He was a strong and compassionate man that will be deeply missed by his family.
Bob is survived by daughters, Barbara (Les) Ewald, Maureen "Reenie" Bryden and Kathie Franklin; grandchildren, Desiree Ewald, Aby Franklin and Chance Franklin; great-grandchildren, James and Jazlynn Stepp; and numerous nephews and their families. He was preceded in death by his parents, beloved wife Sandra, son-in-law Jerome Franklin, four brothers and one sister.
A visitation will be held from 10:00-11:00 a.m., Saturday, July 26, 2025 at Sunset Funeral Home, 8800 N. Alpine Rd, Machesney Park, IL 61115 with a funeral service to begin at 11:00 a.m.
