He married Shirley Frey in 1943 and remained together until his passing .Robert was a devoted husband and Father. He was employed as an aircraft mechanic at Machesney Airport, the Greater Rockford Airport and finally, Rock County Airport where he retired in 1987.
Robert enjoyed all sports; he especially enjoyed watching the Cubs and Bulls. He loved his work and enjoyed working on anything mechanical.
Robert is survived by his wife, Shirley Miller; his children, Tom (Kristy) Miller, Anne (Gerald) Merideth, Steve Miller; and his grandchildren, Brandon, Lindsey, Justin and Eric.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
There will be a private memorial service at 11am Tuesday, November 13, 2012 at Sunset Funeral Home, 8800 N Alpine Rd. Machesney Park. Pastor Gary Park will be officiating.
