Rufus L. Scott, 58, of Rockford, IL, passed away peacefully, Sunday February 26, 2023 surrounded by his loving family. He was born September 9, 1964 in Monroe, LA, the son of Jelean Scott and LJ Hall. He married the love of his life, Pamla Northern on March 30, 2005. He was a material handler for Android Industries in Belvidere. Rufus attended Temple Baptist Church. He was a social butterfly who loved watching football and mowing his grass. Rufus adored walking his dog, Chico. Most of all, Rufus loved spending time with his family.
He is loved and will be missed by his wife, Pamla Scott; daughter, Shatekwa Grant; mother, Jelean Johnson; sisters, Audrey (Glenn) Butler, Terrian Brown, Charlotte (Levi) Brown; brothers, Greg Scott and Lamorris Upton; bonus children, Isaiah, Matthew and Bianca; grandchildren, Ke Aysia, Keontez, Isaiah, Jr., MaLyah, Zaryah Ariana, Isaivion, I'Leah, Brazell, Brielle, Londyn, Isir, Tabree, and Nivia, Mark, Markion; grandparents, Daniel and Edna Burpoe; mother-in-law, Norah Coleman; father-in-law, Albert Turner and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his son, Rufus L. Scott, Jr.; father, LJ Hall and sister, Theresa Williams.
A visitation will be held form 11:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m., Saturday, March 4, 2023 at Sunset Funeral Home, 8800 N. Alpine Rd, Machesney Park, IL 61115 with a funeral service to begin at 1:00 p.m. Burial in Sunset Memorial Gardens. To share a condolence, please visit www.sunsetfhmemgardens.com.
