Sherry M. Comer, 83, of Machesney Park, IL, passed away surrounded by her loving family on August 31, 2022. She was born in Rockford, IL on January 4, 1939 to Robert and Doris (Stone) Thompson. Sherry married the love of her life, Robert Comer, in 1956 and together they had 4 children. They were married for 66 wonderful years, Sherry was there to hold Roberts hand as he took his last breath on August 5, 2022. She worked for Testor Corporation as a Supervisor for 38 years. Sherry loved playing Bingo and collected anything involving Unicorns. She was an avid bowler and enjoyed roller skating in her younger years. Family was important to Sherry and she never missed a single Birthday for anyone. She was loving, caring, and will be greatly missed by everyone that knew and loved her.
Sherry is survived by her children, Rene (Duyonne) Wisdom, Robin (Steve) Schlichting, and Robert W. Comer; her grandchildren, Pasquell, Janelle, Julie, and Jen; her 16 great-grandchildren; her siblings, Georgia (Tom) Rehmstedt and Robert Thompson; her special aunt Barb; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert; her son, Ronnie Comer; her parents, Robert and Doris; her brothers, Richard and Ronald; and her sister, Ruth.

A graveside service for Sherry will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 6, 2022 at Sunset Memorial Gardens, 8800 N. Alpine Rd., Machesney Park, IL 61115. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made in Sherry’s name to OSF Hospice.
