

Shirley Ann Moore, 83, of Rockford, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 27, 2020. Born April 22, 1936 in Ellington, MO. Daughter of William and Rose (Hendon) Brooks. United in marriage to Lonnie F. Moore on July 24, 1955 in Hernando, MS. Member of Halsted Road Baptist Church for over 50 years where she also taught Sunday school for over 30 years. Shirley took great enjoyment in crafting, gardening and painting with watercolors and oils. Together with Lonnie they liked going out to eat, her favorites being tacos, Cracker Barrel and Longhorn Steakhouse. Lonnie and Shirley traveled all across the world having visited the Holy Land, Italy, Germany, Hawaii, Alaska, Europe, London and Ireland to name a few.
Survived by her loving husband of 64 years, Lonnie; son, Larry (Beverly) Moore; grandchildren, Allison (Josiah) Vander Heyden and Patrick Moore; siblings, Lonnie (Ruth) Brooks, J.R. (Peggy) Brooks, Stan (Dolores) Brooks, Sam Brooks, Dorothy (Leroy) Gatlin; several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her parents; brothers, Bobby, John, Bill and Charlie. Family wishes to thank Mercy Hospice for their loving care of Shirley.
Celebration of Life Funeral Service at 10 a.m. on Thursday, January 30 at Sunset Funeral Home, 8800 N. Alpine Rd, Machesney Park. Pastor Jeremiah Griffin will be officiating the service. Visitation at 8:30 a.m. until time of service. Burial following in Willwood Burial Park in Rockford.
