

Shirley (Williams) Waskiewicz, 77, of Rockford passed away Monday, June 4, 2012, surrounded by her family. Born Dec. 10, 1934, in Rockford, daughter of Roy V. and Fredericka H. (Haddad) Williams. She was married to Leo Waskiewicz for 48 years and to this union five children were born. Shirley worked with her friends at the Cherry Valley District Library as a volunteer. She enjoyed exercising with her many friends at Curves. Shirley knitted hats, scarf's and mittens for the homeless. She also enjoyed her friends from Crimson Ridge, and she loved TV shows, movies, reading and puzzles. Most of all she loved her family. Shirley was very active, strong, positive, well-loved, and will be missed by many. Survivors include children, Susan Waskiewicz, Cindy (Dave Martin) Handlogten, Sandra (Ken) Hadlock, Shirley (Jim) Krug and Leo Waskiewicz; grandchildren, Eric (Rachel) Livingston, Leo Waskiewicz Jr., Nathan Waskiewicz, Kyle Krug, Megan Krug, Dain Krug and Helena Hadlock; great-grandchildren, Julia and Rebecca Livingston; siblings, Jim Williams and Diane Killion, who were always there for her as a loving brother and sister. Predeceased by husband, Leo and her parents. Service at 10 a.m. Friday, June 8, at Sunset Funeral Home, 8800 N. Alpine Road, Machesney Park. Entombment in Sunset Memorial Gardens.
