Steve Wayne Smith, 65, of Rockford, passed away on Friday, May 26, 2017. Born October 16, 1951 in Trumann, AR. Son of Jack and Betty (Wright) Smith. Veteran of the United States Army. His working career spanned from Rockford Power Train to General Mills Green Giant as a Maintenance Mechanic. Member of First Born Ministries.
He found enjoyment in trap shooting, fishing, going to garage sales, estate sales and flea markets. He found the most enjoyment in spending time with his family and especially loved his grandchildren.
Survived by his mother, Betty Smith; children, Angie Smith, Tina Austin, Dan (Amy) Smith; grandchildren, Cory, Brittany, Katelyn, Nate, Cody, Christian; great-grandson, Stephon Jr; siblings, Judy Smith, Terry (Marsha) Smith, Alexander Styles. Predeceased by his father, Jack.
Funeral Services at 10 a.m. on Saturday, June 3 at Sunset Funeral Home, 8800 N. Alpine Rd, Machesney Park. Visitation will be at 9 a.m. until time of service.
