Steven "Petey" Ray Petersen

Steve (Petey) Ray Petersen 2/6/57-6/14/25 age 68 died 6/14/25 at home with his wife Diane and his dogs Gotti and Bristol at his bedside- born 2/6/57 to Bonnie and Paul Petersen, lifelong loves park resident, went to Harlem high school. Worked at Rocky's tap for 20 years ending at Sonco pools and spas. Married Diane (Johnson) Petersen 7/10/92. Petey was an avid NASCAR and Chicago bears fan and nothing made him happier then to be with friends in his garage watching races/games with them. He participated in the Loves park police/businessman grudge races at the Rockford speedway for nearly 30 years as a racer and fundraiser to local charities. He loved anything about cars after his brother-in-law Doug put him under the hood at the tender age of 6. He leaves behind his wife Diane, son Fred (Amy) Ekberg, granddaughter Adestin Ekberg, nephew/Godson Blake (Sydney) Donaldson, sisters, Marlene (Daryl) Donaldson, Kelly (Rick) Allen, brother Mark Petersen, his precious niece Megan Schumann and nephews Paul (Tammy) Petersen, Connor and Garrett Donaldson, James and Lucas Johnson, niece Alivia Johnson, Aunt Phyllis Huber and brother-in-law Craig Swenson, sister-in laws Theresa Johnson, Linda (Tom) Schuepbach and "little bro" -Steve (Tanya) Johnson, many cousins, great nieces/nephews and lifelong friends.

Predeceased by his parents Bonnie and Paul, beloved sister Debra Moline-Swenson, brother in law Doug Moline.

Celebration of life will be June 27th from 5-7pm at Sunset funeral home 8800 North Alpine Road, Machesney Park, Illinois 61115. Fly high with the angels my love!
