

Valborg (Val) Elizabeth (Lunde) Brohaugh, 92, formerly of Rockford, passed away on October 26, 2013 in Grandville, Michigan. She was born on December 30, 1920 in Fargo, North Dakota to Daniel and Julia (Hagen) Lunde. Val graduated from Halstad (MN) High School, attended North Dakota State University and served in the U.S. Navy during WWII.
She married J.Vernon Brohaugh on September 20, 1947 and was employed for several years as a retail clerk with the Marshall Field Company. Val was a former member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Rockford, Illinois and Messiah Lutheran Church in Billings, Montana.
She is survived by her children; Virginia (Bruce) Ireland of Joliet, Montana, Rachel Brohaugh of Tyler, Texas, Carolyn Norman of Grandville, Michigan and Andrew (Beth) Brohaugh of Rockford; grandchildren, Kathy M. Bieri, K. Joseph Titman, Justin Norman, and Eric and Alison Brohaugh. She is also survived by four great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews, all very dear to her.
Val is preceded in death by her husband, Vernon, her parents and her brother, Donald Lunde.
Funeral service will be held at 1:00pm, Monday, November 11, 2013 at Sunset Funeral Home, 8800 N. Alpine Road, Machesney Park, Illinois. Reverend Loren Nielsen (Retired) will be officiating. Interment will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
