Wayne B. King, 85, of Machesney Park passed away Friday May 13, 2022 with his family at his side. Wayne was born in Rochelle, IL on May 14, 1936, the son of William Burton and Dorothy (Brubaker) King. Wayne was a lineman for Illinois Bell for 40 years and was a member of the Local Union IBEW. He loved to play cards and was an avid Chicago Bears Fan, his greatest enjoyment was spending time with his family.
Wayne is survived by his daughter: Melinda Bunger; grandsons: Zachariah Bunger and Jacob Bunger; Sister: Shirley (Clyde) Lamoreaux; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and two sisters.
Visitation for Wayne will be Friday May 20, 2022 from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM at Sunset Funeral Home 8800 N. Alpine Road in Machesney Park; service to celebrate Wayne’s life will be at 2: 00 PM at the funeral home. Entombment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. A Celebration of Life Service will be held Sunday May 22, 2022 from 12:00 pm until 3:00 PM at the LLL Club 1515 9th Street in Rockford, IL
