Wayne was born in Emden, IL on April 25, 1932, the son of Otto and Minnie (Giese) Utech. He married Ruth (Utech) Dunbar on February 15, 1953. He then married Arlene Lake and she preceded him in death on December 25, 2006. Wayne was Chief of Police in Winnebago, IL and a Special Deputy for the Winnebago County Police. He was owner of Wayne’s Bumper Supply and drove for Edwards Bakery. Wayne was a member of the Teamsters Union.
Wayne is survived by his children: Martin (Maggie) Utech, Michele (Chris) Wiencek, Darrell (Sheila) Utech, Theodore (Dala) Utech and Dawn (Mike) Tracey; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Wayne was preceded in death by his parents, wife Arlene and his siblings.
A service to celebrate Wayne’s life will be at 2:00 p.m. Monday December 8, 2014 at Sunset Funeral Home 8800 N. Alpine Road in Machesney Park.
