William Thomas (Tom) Massie, age 74, of Galena, IL, formerly of Roscoe, IL, died and went to be with Jesus on Sunday, March 20, 2022. The son of George T. Massie and Eileen (Lewis) Massie, he was born January 15, 1948. Graduate of Hononegah High School.
Tom joined the Navy and was captured by the North Koreans while serving aboard the USS Pueblo AGER-2. He, along with his shipmates, was a POW for 11 long months.
Owner of Alliance Heating & Cooling. After he retired, he spent many happy years in Galena, IL.

He attended New South Church in Galena, IL and hosted many Men’s Fellowship groups.
He made an impact in people’s lives by sharing how God’s love had changed him and given him peace.
Survived by brother Zachary Massie, sister Darlene Maness (Bradley Maness), nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins along with his best friend, Dan (Jan) Gilbert.
A visitation for Tom will be held Saturday, April 2, 2022 from 1:00pm to 2:00pm at Sunset Funeral Home, 8800 North Alpine Road, Machesney Park, IL, followed by a service to celebrate Tom’s life at 2:00 pm.
Tom will be laid to rest in Sunset Memorial Gardens with Military Honors, Machesney Park, IL.
