Alva Franklin Lindsey, 88, passed away peacefully in his sleep on March 7, 2022. A Celebration of his Life will be held on Saturday, March 12, 2022 at 11AM at Fort Valley United Methodist Church in Fort Valley, Georgia. The family will greet friends on Friday, March 11, 2022 from 6:00PM to 8:00PM at Snow’s Memorial Chapel, 1419 Bass Road, Macon, Georgia 31210.
He was born in Musella, Georgia on February 20, 1934 to Grover Eugene and Nellie Harbuck Lindsey. Alva was a 2-Time All State Basketball player at Roberta in high school.
After serving in the Army, he returned home where he met and married his wife, Darlene in Roberta, they were married on November 23, 1961. Alva was self-employed operating the family sawmill and farm in Crawford County.
He was a member of the Fort Valley United Methodist Church where he sang in the Chancel Choir. Alva and Darlene were members of the Upper Room Sunday School class where he enthusiastically led the singing.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Darlene in 2010. Alva is survived by three children Danny, Grace, and Ralph; 11 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; brother, Jim (Donna) Lindsey of Jackson, GA; and sister, Gloria (Tommy) Justice of Albany, GA.
