

Byron A. Jones, 90, passed away Monday, February 1st at a local hospital. Funeral services and a celebration of his life will be held Thursday, at 2:00 p.m.at Snow’s Memorial Chapel, Pio Nono Avenue with burial in Macon Memorial Park Cemetery. The Rev. Tim Long and the Rev. Matthew Cook will officiate. The family will meet friends from 6 - 8 p.m., Wednesday at the funeral home.
Mr. Jones, son of the late Will T. and Alma Virginia Durden Jones, was a lifelong resident of Macon. He served with the U. S. Army during World War II with the 121st Infantry Regiment, the “Old Gray Bonnet,” the 80th Division Infantry and the 1st Armored Division. He was a member of the Last Man Club and a life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars. Mr. Jones was a former member of Mickey Fuller Masonic Lodge and attended First Evangelical Church. He was an avid fisherman and was owner and operator of K. K. Rice Plumbing Co. Mr. Jones was preceded in death by his son, Byron Jones, Jr. and by a daughter, Linda Ogletree Hammock.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Gladys F. Jones of Macon; his daughter, Sheila Ogletree (Bruce Cook) of Conyers; his son, Danny (Pat) Ogletree of Macon; a devoted grandson, Charles Phillip Bush; other grandchildren, Chad Daugherty, Julie Hall, David and Sarah Jones, Robert, Matthew and Wesley Cook, Joshua and Clayton Ogletree; seven great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
