

Eugene Baldwin Stone passed away on May 11, 2014. The son of Mary and Ernest P. Stone, Eugene was a resident of Macon for most of his life. He attended Georgia Military College in Milledgeville. He received his Bachelors of Science degree from Mercer University in 1987. He married the love of his life, Sara Sturdivant, of Washington, Georgia in 1949.
Eugene served as a Gideon and an active member of the Exchange Club of Macon for over forty years and was inducted into the Gold Brigade of Georgia Military College in 1997. He enjoyed a career with Packaging Corporation of America as an accounting executive for more than thirty years.
Eugene is preceded in death by his brother, Marshall Reuis and survived by his wife, Sara and their four children and their spouses; Gene Jr. (Linda), Marcia (Tim), Mary (Pat), Sara (Bob), and Trudie Punaro Thomas, who was like a daughter to him. He is also survived by ten loving grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and his beloved pug, Gertie.
“Gaddy” is remembered by the entire Stone clan for his big heart, and his love of the family’s cabin in Hiawassee and the natural beauty of the North Georgia mountains.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made to the Georgia Industrial Children’s Home. A visitation will be held on Thursday, May 15th from 5:30 until 7:30 p.m. at Snow’s Memorial Chapel, Cherry Street. Memorial services will be private.
As he watches over us from the heavenly Cabin in the sky, the legacy of Stones he has created will live on forever because of the loyalty and love of family he taught us all.
