

Byron – Frances Tanner Willis, 86, went Home to be with Jesus Saturday, November 27, 2010. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday at Snow’s Memorial Chapel, Pio Nono Avenue. Burial will be in Glen Haven Memorial Gardens. Dr. Otis L. Andrews and Rev. Phillip Johnson will officiate. The family will greet friends from 5 until 7 PM Monday at the funeral home and asks that in lieu of flowers that donations be made to Operation Christmas Child, c/o Glenwood Hills Baptist Church, 3225 Rice Mill Road, Macon 31216. The family may be contacted at the residence of Sheila and Roger Hayes.
Mrs. Willis was born in Sandersville, Georgia and was valedictorian of Sandersville High School Class of 1941. She retired from the Civil Engineering Squadron at RAFB after 30 years of service. Mrs. Willis was a member of Glenwood Hills Baptist Church, active in the XYZ Club, His Helping Hands, Lunch Bunch and the Kitchen Committee. Mrs. Willis was the widow of David Roscoe Willis and the daughter of the late Arthur L. Tanner and Hattie T.Tanner. She was preceded in death by her sisters, Grace Jones, Opal Veal, Genia Mae Hooker, Virginia Jones and Inez Tanner; her brothers, Melvin Tanner and Cecil Tanner.
Mrs. Willis is survived by her daughters, Sheila Hayes (Roger) of Byron and Tanya Johnson (Travis) of Cary, NC; sons, David Willis, Randy Willis (Marilyn), and Jeff Willis (Amy) all of Byron; grandchildren, Davita Hatchett, Joshua Hayes, Kelly Haddock, Sean Willis, Chris Willis, Kyra Tidwell, Nici Day, Anna Willis, Hunter Willis, Phillip Johnson and Shane Johnson; 17 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
