Frank Willis Comer

Frank Comer, 96, died Wednesday, May, 22, 2013 at his residence. Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 25, 2013 at 1:00 pm at Snow’s Memorial Chapel, Cherry Street with Dr. Tripp Martin officiating. The family will greet friends from 12:00 pm until service time on Saturday and burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, North Gate. The family suggests that donations be made to Vineville Baptist Church, 2591 Vineville Ave., Macon, GA 31204 or the Macon Exchange Club, P.O. Box 7584, Macon, GA 31209.

Frank was born on June 19, 1916 in Eufaula, Alabama, the son of Frank Willis Comer and Montine Roddenbery Comer. He attended Eufaula Public School followed by Darlington Graduate in Rome, Georgia. He graduated from Washington & Lee University in 1938, where he was a member of the Phi Delta Theta Fraternity.

Frank was employed by The Bibb Co. (formerly Bibb Manufacturing Company), where he held several positions. Mr. Comer was a member of Vineville Baptist Church and various organizations including the Macon Exchange Club, the Macon Rifle and Pistol Club, the Grand Jurors Association, the Macon Touchdown Club, the Middle Georgia Gem & Mineral Society, and Idle Hour Golf and Country Club.

Mr. Comer was preceded in death by his wife, Jeannette Reeves Comer and daughter, Montine Comer Mona. Here to cherish his memory are his children, Jerry Legare Comer (Marilyn) of Richardson, TX, Margret Ann Comer of Raleigh, NC, and Frank Willis Comer III (Martha Ann) of Parkton, MD; grandchildren, Robert B. Comer (Gina), Lora Lee McCullough (Graham), David C. Comer, Frank W. Comer IV (Keli), Shannon Comer Dodge (Shawn), and Daniel A. Comer (Cheryl); ten great granddaughters; and one great great granddaughter.
