

George W. Turner, 88, passed away Friday, October 19, 2012 at Pine Pointe Hospice. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Monday at Snow’s Memorial Chapel, Pio Nono with burial in Macon Memorial Park Cemetery. Dr. Neal Wall, Dr. Aubrey Sheats and Dr. Shannon Back will officiate. The family will meet friends from 3:00 – 4:30 p.m., Sunday at the funeral home. They suggest that those who wish may make memorial contributions to Pine Pointe Hospice, 6261 Peake Road, Macon 31210 or to Bellevue Baptist Church Building Fund, 5925 Price Road, Macon 31220.
Mr. Turner, son of the late Charlie Jesse and Eva Mae Turner, was born and educated in Warthen , GA. He was an inspector at Robins Air Force Base retiring after thirty-five years. Mr. Turner was a member of Bellevue Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon. He was one of the founders of the Middle Georgia Food Bank and was a member of NARFE. Mr. Turner was preceded in death by his son-in-law, Mike Middleton, his brothers, Frank Turner, Charlie Jessie Turner and Louie Turner and three sisters.
Survivors include his devoted wife of fifty-four years, Virginia Drew Turner of Macon; his daughters, Janna (Tony) Moore of Lizella and Gena Minshew of Macon; his granddaughters, Dana Tidwell of Macon and Jennifer (Ian Johnson) Tidwell of Macon; two great grandsons, Clayton Andrew Johnson and Mathias Wilson Johnson; his brother, Steve (Pam) Turner of Macon and several nieces and nephews.
