Gloria Elizabeth Brooks Short

Gloria Elizabeth Brooks Short, 79, passed away on Saturday, July 5, 2025. A celebration of her life will be held on Monday, July 7, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Snow’s @ Macon Memorial. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery with the Rev. Pastor Ed Chambliss officiating. The family will greet friends from 1:00 p.m. to service time at the funeral home.

Gloria was born in Pelham, Georgia to the late Edgar and Geraldine Kelly Brooks. She was preceded in death by her husband, Norman William Short, her sister, Martha Mims and grandson, Nestor Short. Gloria was a member of Mikado Baptist Church. Gloria was a retired schoolteacher from Peach County Board of Education, and she also taught for many years in Bibb County. She worked for the Macon Telegraph for eight years in the classified section of the newspaper. Gloria enjoyed painting and crafting. She was a breast cancer survivor. She was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, and sister.

She is survived by her children, Joanna Elizabeth Greene (Timothy Mark) of Port St. Lucie, Michael Aaron Short of Sugar Hill, and Natalie Christina Short of Macon, grandchildren, Madeline Greene, Andrew Short, Eli Greene, Isabella Short and sister, Virginia Brooks Pennington and her dog, Linda.
