

MACON – Hazel “Mema” R. Cox, 89, passed away Thursday, February 17, 2011 at her residence. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday at Glen Haven Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Ken May officiating. The family will meet friends from 5 - 7 p.m., Friday at Snow’s Memorial Chapel, Pio Nono Avenue.
Mrs. Cox was preceded in death by her husband of forty-two years, James Arthur Cox and by her parents, Q. M. and Era Mathis Reece. She was born in Canton where she was a member of Antioch Christian Church. Mrs. Cox had lived in Macon a number of years and was an avid gardener who enjoyed working in her yard during all Seasons of the year. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother who received much joy in teaching her great grandchildren to play baseball.
Survivors include those who loved her most, her family. Her children, Lynn (Bobby) Johnston, Meleia (Jerry) Cavanah and Lisa Cox, all of Macon; her grandchildren, Trey (Cheryl) Ogle of Gray, Brian (Dawn) Cavanah of Warner Robins, Melissa Cavanah and Jessica Soles, both of Macon; her great grandchildren, Emily Cavanah, Chase Wright, Braydon Cavanah, Parker Ogle, Colin Soles, Carson Ogle and Caine Evans and her special friend, Frances Barfield.
The family wishes to thank the staff of Heartland Hospice for their gentle, loving and compassionate care of Mrs. Cox during these weeks.
