
Hazel Logan Tyson, 87, passed away on Wednesday, January 8, 2014 at Bolingreen Nursing Home. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, January 11 at 11 a.m. at Martha Bowman United Methodist Church with Reverend Tim Steffen officiating. The family will greet friends on Saturday in the sanctuary of Martha Bowman United Methodist Church from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Burial will be private at Macon Memorial Park. The family requests that donations be made to the Oliver Morton Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, C/O Julia Simpson, 351 Skinner Road, Macon, 31211 or Martha Bowman United Methodist Church, 500 Bass Road, Macon, 31210.
Mrs. Tyson was born in Macon to the late Mattie Cornelia Johnson Logan and William David Logan, Sr. She was predeceased in death by her husband, Julius Edward Tyson; siblings, William David Logan, Jr., Frank C. Amerson, Jr., and Miriam Amerson Bell. Hazel was the bookkeeper at Jack Mann Company and Barney Smith Lincoln-Mercury, Inc. She was a member of Martha Bowman United Methodist Church and the Nan Freeman Sunday School Class, a member of the Oliver Morton Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution; former member of the Pilot Club of Putnam County and a former member of the Ladies of the Lake, Lake Sinclair.
Survivors include her sons, Michael Edward Tyson of Putnam County and Kenneth David (Kim) Tyson of Macon, grandchildren, Christopher M. Tyson, Kimberly T. Futch, Craig N. Tyson, Brittany Tyson and Matthew Tyson; six great-grandchildren, sisters, Laura Oakley of Decatur and Mary Burt of Macon.
