

JAMES H. SEARS MACON – James H. Sears, 81, passed away on Thursday, December 24, 2009 after a long battle with cancer. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday in the chapel of Snow’s Memorial Chapel, Pio Nono with burial at 2:30 p.m. Sunday in Riverside Cemetery, Lumber City, GA. The Rev. Rodney Queen, Rev. John Prettyman and Rev. Larry Reesor will officiate. The family will meet friends from 1 p.m. to service time on Saturday at the funeral home. The family suggests that contributions in Mr. Sears’ name be made to the American Cancer Society, P. O. Box 4406, Macon, GA 31208. Born November 14, 1928 the son of the late J. L. and Mae Sears, Mr. Sears had lived in Macon most of his life. He served his country in the U. S. Army from 1948 to 1949. He owned several businesses throughout Macon, mostly in auto parts, and Sears Texaco. Mr. Sears was a Charter Member of Central Fellowship Baptist Church. He will be very missed by his family and friends who knew him. A devoted husband and father, Mr. Sears is survived by his wife of fifty-seven years, Velma S. Sears and three children, Lisa Blankenship (Keith), James H. Sears, Jr. (Robin) and John Wilburn Sears, all of Macon; eight grandchildren; three great grandchildren and his brother, Harrison F.
