Joey was born and raised in Macon and carried a deep love for his hometown throughout his life. He attended Belhaven College in Mississippi, where he played baseball- an experience that reflected his dedication, discipline and love for teamwork. Joey was a member of Idle Hour Golf & Country Club and the Macon Civic Club.
A devoted follower of Christ, Joey loved the Lord with his whole heart and had a sincere desire to share the Gospel and God’s love with others. He faithfully attended Ingleside Baptist Church in Macon, where his faith was evident through both his words and the way he lived his life.
Joey fought a hard and courageous battle with cancer, facing each day with strength, perseverance, and unwavering faith. Though the fight was difficult, he remained steadfast, leaning on the lord and the love of his family throughout his journey.
He treasured his roles as a husband, father, brother, son, and friend. He is survived by his beloved wife, Lally Weaver; their children Joshua (Jenna), Daniel (Callie), and Cardin; his siblings Tee, Cile, Matt and Paige, who preceded him in death. He was preceded in death by his parents JoAnn Groover and Nollie Terrell Weaver Jr.
Joey’s family was his greatest joy, and he was especially excited to welcome his first granddaughter, who is due in March. His love, guidance, and steady presence will continue to be felt through generations.
In his free time, Joey found peace and joy in fishing- often using those quiet moments as time for reflection and gratitude.
Though our hearts mourn his passing, we find comfort knowing he is now fully healed and resting in the presence of our Savior. Joey will be remembered as a faithful servant of the Lord, a loving family man, and a steady example of faith and humility.
A Celebration of his Life will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, December 19, 2025 in the Chapel of Ingleside Baptist Church with visitation following in the Fellowship Hall. Burial will be private. Dr. Mark Hudgins, Cardin E. Weaver, Dave DiPonzio and David Bailey will officiate. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to Ingleside Baptist Church, 834 Wimbish Road, Macon 31210 or the donor's favorite charity.
The service will reflect Joey’s deep love for the lord and his faithful walk with Christ.
