Louise Ray Burkhalter

Louise Ray Burkhalter, 87, passed away Wednesday, March 18, 2015. A Celebration of her Life will be held at 11:00 AM Friday in the Mausoleum Chapel of Macon Memorial Park Cemetery. Entombment will be in Macon Memorial Park. Rev. Andy Oxford will officiate. The family will greet friends beginning at 10:00 the morning of the service in the Mausoleum Chapel. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to Mt. Zion Baptist Church, 7015 Rivoli Road, Macon, GA 31210.

Mrs. Burkhalter was born in Lynn, North Carolina the daughter of the late Mary Vallaree Hilton Ray and William Thomas Ray. She was a homemaker and a faithful member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church for over 60 years. Mrs. Burkhalter was preceded in death by her husband, Harry H. Burkhalter, and her daughter, Mary Alice Burkhalter. She was a former member of many garden clubs in Steinhatchee, Florida.

Mrs. Burkhalter is survived by her children, Gayle (Tom) Ward, William T. (Paula) Burkhalter, John (Kristen) Burkhalter, and George (Dawn) Burkhalter all of Macon; eleven grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; brother, William Ray; sisters, Mildred Hurley and Vallaree Minchew; several nieces and nephews.
