

Marvin Wayne Byrd, 77, entered his Heavenly Home Wednesday, February 5, 2014 at Pine Pointe Hospice. A celebration of his life will be held at 11 a.m., Monday at Snow’s Memorial Chapel, Pio Nono with burial in Georgia Veterans Cemetery, Milledgeville on Tuesday at 1 p.m. The Rev. Tim Kelly and the Rev. Josh and Mrs. Shelly Rough will officiate. The family will meet friends from 5 – 7 p.m., Sunday at the funeral home.
Mr. Byrd, son of the late Thomas Allen Byrd and Mary Edna Woods Byrd, was a lifelong resident of Macon/Lizella before moving to Milledgeville. He served with the U. S. Air Force and before retirement, worked for Pepsi Cola Co. as supervisor of vending machines and at Willingham Sash and Door as a cabinet maker. He was a member of Pentecostal Holiness Church. He treasured his long and meaningful friendship with the Rev. Grover Spillers and Rev. Joey Hamrick. Mr. Byrd was known to be generous with his time and his energy and was always willing to lend a helping hand in any way he could. He thoroughly enjoyed doing anything with his hands whether it was fishing and hunting or woodworking. He was preceded in death by his brothers the Rev. Douglas Earl Byrd, Raymond Byrd and Jerry Byrd and his sister, Lourene Rogers. Above all, he was devoted to his family whom he loved dearly.
He is survived by those he loved most, his wife Karey Perkins Byrd of Milledgeville; his son, Sidney Wayne (Donna) Byrd of Macon; his beloved grandson, Keaton Byrd of Macon; his brother, Ronnie Allen Byrd of Lizella; his sisters, Lee Rita Gandy of Thomasville and Nancy Johns of Macon.
